About this Workshop
The first 5 elements of Decision Quality (DQ) are often thought of as “thinking” about the decision. A structured approach to decision-making, along with an amazing array of tools, can help achieve good quality in these elements – getting us to the “right” answer in the face of risk & uncertainty.
The 6th element, Commitment to Action, is different. There are no “standard” tools supporting quality in this element and it is often simply thought of as the mental shift from “thinking” to “doing”. Making a decision requires the irrevocable application of resources to realize the value of the opportunity. It also means that hypothetical risks get real. However, we often wait until we are at the decision point to assess the quality of the 6th element. Not “thinking” about the “doing” early enough, can compromise decision quality, with problems and risks materializing at the eleventh hour, or worse, while decision execution is in flight.
In this talk, we discuss how “thinking” about “doing” – early and often – can progressively build Commitment to Action and promote quality decision-making. Deep thinking about the 6th element can help identify, mitigate and navigate opportunity risks.
