In business (and in life!) decision making is one of the most important things we do, but it is hard to do this well, particularly when risks and uncertainties are involved. 

Industry is littered with projects that have overspent and under delivered and I have seen a fair share of these over the years. Knowing the benefit that making a quality decision can make to our outcomes I have set my default to be ‘Use DQ’ when ever I need to ‘step back’ to make an important decision. The outcome is never guaranteed – but the expected outcomes are more reliably achieved if I use the DQ framework as a mental model to help the thinking of myself and others when making decisions.
